Week One – What is a Computer ?
the google definition of a computer is : an electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to instructions given to it in a variable program.
however looking back at the historical context of how computers came to be ,really changes the perspective of how one may view a computer and its purpose . some of the very first computers were used as digital diaries only storing simple data information and calculations. many years later it is almost impossible to not interact with some sort or computer technology as it is integrated into our everyday lives. some so small they fit in our back pocket ……. phones .
yes, a part of me agrees with the google definition to a certain extent but I also believe that computers are a much simpler version of the human brain with various limits . some may disagree with the statement however, if humans are programming these computers to follow certain rules and store data isn’t it almost like raising a child ? …… maybe a far stretch.
I think in the future computers may be programmed into consciousness and potentially overcome the human race due to the large fast paced technological field. here’s a possibility, how about a computers performing an operation ??
