Week Ten – short films/documentaries

the sprawl

the sprawl talks about geopolitical perceptions of propaganda and how the internet puts forward facts and fiction some of which normalise injustices and dangers (such as men who advocate “legal rape”)within individuals and certain areas specifically Ukraine. describing it as a “road ahead of mercurial doom of the trump regime ” .

concerns and themes throughout this film:

• female sexuality
• misinformation
• ecological crisis

personally the only way in which I can relate to this is how the male obsession of female sexuality undermines male sexuality in a way that certain men find threatening. growing up in a Turkish immigrant Society I’ve had many experiences where Turkish men and even boys have felt the need to show their authority when they felt the slightest bit threatened by my knowledge or the way I have dressed.
